After doing a serious cabinet overhaul this week, I concluded that I needed out with the junk food and in with the health and energy boosting ingredients. It has been far too easy for me to grab pre-made foods on the go with the depressing New England weather we’ve been hit with (almost 100 cumulative inches… no joke!). While there are a lot of great and healthy foods available on the go, it does nothing for your bank account. In an effort to save money and really take control of a healthier lifestyle, I’ve decided to re-load my cabinets with some of my favorite and most versatile items.
If you’re anything like us and have been stuck inside for the past 4 days then you’ll probably agree that you’ve taken your snacking game to a whole new level. Something about snowstorms makes us a little stir crazy and we forget to eat healthy and stick with what’s convenient à la takeout and delivery. Additionally, the Super Bowl is coming up this Sunday and whether you’re like us rooting for the New England Patriots (boo Seattle!) or if you’re just in it for the commercials, we know it is yet another excuse to pack in the calories with no holds barred. Maria and I sat down, did a little pinterest browsing, and came up with some great healthy options to try out for your Super Bowl parties. We’re not ones to sacrifice taste for calorie count but we did find some awesome treats that taste great and are good for you.
